Chewbacca Tattoo

Penny Melgarejo of Tattoo Club in Madrid, Spain sent in a picture of the Chewbacca tattoo she designed for someone. She says the “inked” person is a Star Wars fan so they found a drawing of Chewbacca they liked, changed a few things, tossed the “Wook” banner underneath and gave Chewie some blue eyes. She didn’t say why the blue eyes, perhaps the Wookies found a spice planet?

Quatto Bandit and His Guns

Quatto Bandit” of the Bourbon Bandits (sounds like a group I’d join!) sent in his guns that are reminiscent of a certain website’s logo. He says he got them because of “a love of classic console gaming and a love of beautifully-designed toys, but also to cover up a gnarly surgical scar I’ve had since I was a baby.” Beau Guenin inked these beauties.

Quatto wants to know whether he should fill them in with grey or orange. What say you?

Tux On His Shoulder

Stefan is not only a Linux geek (since 1999 he says), he also collects penguins. I can’t imagine how much he spends on fish to feed the penguin army that he’s amassing.

Abe-Borg-ham Lincoln Tattoo

Four score and seven cycles ago, one artist brought forth on Michael’s skin a new tattoo, conceived in imagination, and dedicated to the proposition that all men would be more awesome if they were cyborgs..

This awesome tattoo of Abraham Lincoln as a cyborg is on Michael Vellotti and is by Chris Krahn in Boise, Idaho.

Doctor Who Tattoo

I’m not sure how Rob managed to cram so much into one tattoo, but he did with this custom Doctor Who ink.

I put together the design of the tattoo myself based on several sources, among them the Seal of Rassilon and a photo of David Tennant (which I believe was from the Complete Specials dvd set). In the background, a storm was included to signify the nickname given to the Doctor “The Oncoming Storm”. The quote itself is from the mini-episode “Time Crash”. The tattoo is a tribute to my late grandfather, who introduced me to the show and used to watch it with me when I was younger.

Tattoo was done by Mike at Cattoos in Dunkirk, NY.

Raven’s Awesome Pokemon Sleeve

Pokemon fans are rabid about… well Pokemon. Raven is one of those fans. She sent in her Pokemon sleeve tattoo that features Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. She says it’s not a completed piece and she plans on adding more. She mumbled something about collecting them all I think.

If you look closely (ok, maybe you don’t need to look _closely) you can see her Avatar: the Last Airbender tattoo on her shoulder too.

Shadow of Colossus Tattoo

Lissa Jo writes:

For my very first tattoo I had to go with one of my all time favorites Shadow of the Colossus. I spent forever trying to get this down just how I wanted it. There were virtually no direct camera shots from the game’s box art, game guide or anywhere I looked online. The best representation of the vitality symbol was of Wander’s tunic, and that was just too symmetrical. It wasn’t until the team Ico pack came out for LBP that I was able to trace the symbol right off the screen. My tattoo artist Jay helped smooth it out and make it look pretty. I am very proud to rock a tat that most other video game junkies won’t recognize.  My second tat ended up being the key to hell from the Sandman series. I’m a huge Sandman/Neil Gaiman fan and although it’s a fairly common Sandman tattoo, I just had to have it!

She got both tattoos done at Spit Shade Ink by Jay.

Life meter!

Megan has always been a Nintendo lover and like many of us, Legend of Zelda was one of her favorite games. What better way to show how close it is to her heart than to get a life meter tattooed right next to it?

Bub From Bubble Bobble Tattoo

A little 8-bit of cuteness for you! Mel shares her Bubble Bobble tattoo with us:

My fiance was leaving for VA and I wanted to get something tattooed on me to help make the separation a bit more bearable. I would never tattoo anyone’s name on me, not even his so I came up with something else. Our fave game growing up was Bubble Bobble and much like the came and life in general you can win at it by yourself but it is so much more fun and fulfilling with a partner. He is the Bub to my Bob.

Mushy stuff aside, the game was awesome and who wouldn’t want a pixel cutie like him on them?

The Arecibo Message

Remember 3-2-1 Contact? Back in the day they put out a magazine with the Arecibo message printed in it. Little Violet saw this and says she then spent the next thirty years resisting getting it tattooed on her body. Finally she relented and you can see how awesome it looks on her shoulder.

Don’t know what the Arecibo message is? Well fear not, you can look it up in your full set of Encyclopedia Britannica. Wait, what?! You didn’t keep those books? What would your mother say? Oh well, I guess you can use wikipedia to find out about the Arecibo message. I hear that’s what the kids do these days.

Tattoo was done at the Baltimore Tattoo Museum by Bill Stevenson.
