Jully’s QR Code Tattoo

Jully writes to say that she thinks she might be the first person in Brazil to get a QR code tattoo. The code is the name of a song by Good Charlotte that was a part of her adolescence and helped her get through a rough time.

Her tattooist was André from True Love Tattoo. I really like the strategy he took for inking the QR code accurately on her arm.

More of Jon’s Geeky Ink

Remember Jon’s tattoo of Captain Kirk? Well it’s not his only one. He also has a Flux Capacitor as well as a Die Rebel Scum Stormtrooper tattoo. The Flux Capacitor was done by Amanda Gold at Fortune Cookie Tattoo, while the Stormtrooper is Adam Romano’s work (Full Circle Tattoo).

A Different Sonic the Hedgehog: A Protein Tattoo

Brian writes:

My name is Brian, and I got a tattoo at a shop called Good Fortune Tattoo in Savannah Georgia by an artist named Hime. It is a tattoo of a 3d representation of the signaling portion of a protein called Shh (this stands for Sonic hedgehog). I got the tattoo because I am a cell biology student and love the ridiculous naming of proteins done by the geneticists which discover it. I figured, for my first tattoo, it might as well be something completely unique. I love it though, great conversation starter and very few people have any idea of what the hell it is at first glance.

Yes, someone named a protein after the Sega character. Don’t believe me, check Wikipedia.

Who Is Atlas?

Geek points to whoever can correctly identify where this tattoo is from. Nico sent it in saying:

[REDACTED] is definitely one of the most memorable stories I’ve ever gone through in a game so I had to get this done. The entire world is beyond incredible. I plan on getting my leg done with little items from my favorite well written games. But no logos. I want em to be recognizable only by actual fans. Next up is yes man followed by a crowbar impaled in a head crab.

Tux Tattoo Mashup

m0shbear writes:

I’m a sysadmin whose two passions are code and music, represented in ink form. Tux, the Linux penguin, and the unix philosophy. C, the programming language, and the signature of the defined entry point. The guitar and drums, and my hobby of playing loud music.

What the Heck is a Pilcrow?

Do you know what a pilcrow is? Neither did I until Greg sent in his tattoo. No, it’s not just a word that’ll score you mad points in Words With Friends (drop that bad boy on a TW in your next game!). It’s that’s the true name for that little paragraph symbol your school teacher drew all over your giant run-on sentence of a paper that you turned in. Greg explains the reasoning behind his choice of ink:

For those who may not recognize it, it’s a paragraph symbol. It’s used in the editing process to note when a new idea is being expressed and, accordingly, should be in its own paragraph. I got this because I’m trying to take my life in a new direction, a new idea. And I write on occasion. :)

The paragraph mark on Greg’s arm was done at Graveyard Tattoo in Clackamas, OR.

Hey Brian, that’s a heater vent, not a Stargate!
Oh man, I hope he finds his way to the right place.

No Roses Grow on a Trooper’s Grave

Ken, aka Cowboy Kenbot, sends in the tattoo he got done at Hybrid Tattoo. He says he loves Star Wars and loved this shirt when it came out, so he decided to get it tattooed. But it’s not his only geeky tattoo, he’s also got a robot cowboy version of himself.
